Award of the American PEN for literary work in 2017 went to BH novelist, essayist, and critic Aleksandar Hemon, Sarajevan with the address in US, for the oral history of BH refugees, “How Did You Get Here?: Tales of Displacement,” as reported by the Publishers Weekly.
The award includes a cash award of 10,000 USD.
“In the political and in the national discourse, on which the PEN center is focused, we will continue to support the position that has humanity in a coherent dialogue. Many winners of this year’s award researched the social issues that are at the top of our national consciousness. This year’s PEN award was presented for excellent literary work and the diversity of writing of their creators,” said the President of PEN center in America, Andrew Solomon.
The ceremony will be held on the 27th of March in New York when will be published names of the winners of other awards of PEN. The host will be comedian Aasif Mandvi.
PEN America is awarding these prizes since 1963.
