BHANSA facing a Serious Financial Crisis due to Account Blocking

The Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) is facing a serious financial crisis after Eurocontrol, following a Belgian court order, blocked the funds that BHANSA was supposed to receive for airspace management services. This blockade is a consequence of an arbitration award from 2022 in favor of the Slovenian company Viaduct, which is not directly related to BHANSA’s operations, but has profound consequences for its operations.

The blocking of the accounts prevents BHANSA from operating normally, and revenues from route charges, which make up ninety percent of its budget, are currently unavailable.

“In order to mitigate the consequences, BHANSA was forced to take precautionary measures, including reducing salaries for the previous month,” BHANSA said.

This decision was made in consultation with trade union presidents, in order to ensure transparency and legality of the process, and to protect the rights of all employees.

The situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been further destabilized, and the latest events related to the execution have brought BHANSA to the center of events.

Despite everything, BHANSA believes in its strength and ability to overcome this crisis, and will emerge from it stronger and more resilient, ready to reach the level it deserves again, although this may require certain sacrifices, the agency said.

BHANSA management thanked all employees for their understanding, patience and commitment on a daily basis. Their support is crucial in these difficult times.

BHANSA called on the relevant institutions to recognize the urgency of the problem and find a solution that will allow for the continuation of uninterrupted work, the protection of employees and the preservation of the country’s international reputation in the field of civil aviation.
