BiH Air Traffic Controller Slams Politicians: “We Make Decisions for Multiple Planes in 15 Minutes-Ministers Can’t Do It in 15 Days”

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) could lose control over its airspace if the Slovenian company “Viaduct” is not paid the debt in the amount of 110 million BAM, which was incurred by the Republika Srpska (RS) entity.

The proposed solution by the Council of Ministers of BiH to pay the debt from the profits of the Central Bank of BiH (CBBiH) was met with opposition, as in that case the state would be harmed.

In the meantime, the BiH Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) employees fear possible layoffs, and air traffic controller Sanja Domuz Sadikovic spoke out about everything, sending a message to the ministers who allowed BHANSA workers to live in agony.

Domuz Sadikovic asked whether the ministers know that, on average, an area air traffic controller makes up to 40 decisions in one working hour.

“Air traffic controllers in BiH have about 15 minutes to make a decision for each plane entering our airspace. Sometimes it is necessary to make decisions for 10 or more planes at the same time in just 15 minutes, which means we have 1.5 minutes for each individual plane, to ensure that each one gets the most optimal and safest route to fly over our airspace. 1.5 minutes to decide and execute a decision to prevent a collision between two or more planes… 1.5 minutes to prevent the deaths of several hundred people… 1.5 minutes to ensure safe landings and take-offs not only from and to our airports but also airports ranging from Vienna to Sofia. For planes flying from New York to Singapore,” stated Domuz Sadikovic.

On the other hand, she adds, in our country it is a completely normal thing that a minister and an entire ministry do not make a decision even in 15 days.

“And nothing happens. They simply don’t do their job and bear absolutely no consequences for their (in)action. None. These days I imagine how wonderful it must be to be a minister, let alone a deputy or an advisor. You do what you want, when you want, how you want. And nothing. You don’t care about responsibility toward the lives and property of the people who pay you to provide them services. You don’t care about the law, regulations, procedures, documents, or obligations. You don’t care about anything,” Domuz Sadikovic said, disappointed.

She says that in BiH it is a rare situation that ministers fulfill promises and do their jobs, so it has become strange and we don’t even know how to behave when such a thing happens.

“I invite the ministers and their assistants and deputies and advisors, the next time they sit in a plane with their children to travel on exotic trips, which they can afford from their (in)action, just to think what it would be like if somewhere out there in some air traffic control sat someone just like them. Someone who doesn’t care. Who doesn’t care whether they’ll do their job or not. Who doesn’t care about his life or the lives of his children. What kind of feeling is that? Is it comfortable? Is it pleasant? Don’t worry, the question is hypothetical. We are not like you. Not just because we are criminally liable for every decision we make, and there are hundreds daily, but because we care. We care about people, about their lives, we care about their families, we care about the responsibility toward those who pay us to provide them safety. We care, even though these days no one cares about us,” concluded Domuz Sadikovic, Klix.ba writes.
