The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Sijarto, signed today the Action Plan on sharing knowledge about the process of accession to the European Union between the ministries of the two countries.

Today’s signing, as well as the visit to Hungary, is another confirmation of the good relations between these two countries, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

BiH is in a key phase of the European path, the EU should recognize the progress

During his working visit to Hungary, Konaković also met with the Minister of European Union Affairs of Hungary, Janos Bok, with whom he discussed European integration, BiH’s progress on its way to the EU and regional cooperation.

Konaković informed the interlocutor about the reform process of our country and that BiH is in a key phase of the European path. He expressed the hope that the EU institutions will recognize the progress and make a decision on the opening of accession negotiations.

Boka emphasized that BiH has done more now than years ago, and that the EU should recognize the progress. Given that Hungary will take over the presidency of the EU Council from July 1 this year, Minister Boka announced a visit to the countries of the Western Balkans in order to familiarize himself with the current situation and events in the region.

Let us remind you that Minister Konaković is on a working visit to Hungary, at the invitation of Minister Sijart, where he will participate in the annual meeting of the heads of diplomatic and consular missions of Hungary, where he will talk about the European path and the progress that BiH has made ahead of the European Commission’s report and the European Council’s decision on opening accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is a very important gathering, held in the form of a panel discussion, which Hungary offered as a help to its diplomatic-consular network when it comes to lobbying, advocating and promoting information about BiH’s progress on the way to the EU.

Hungary, as a member of the EU, plays an important role in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts towards European integration, offering assistance in the accession process.

From July 1 this year, Hungary will assume the presidency of the Council of the EU, and one of the goals of the Hungarian presidency is to speed up the process of integration of the countries of the Western Balkans, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
