Members of the Light Infantry Battalion Group of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) have been sent to Croatia to participate in the NATO exercise “Immediate Response 25”.
The exercise in Croatia is being conducted as part of NATO’s largest annual exercise called “Defender 25”, and will involve members of forces from the USA, Albania, Croatia, Germany, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Slovenia.
As the largest NATO-declared unit, the Light Infantry Battalion Group is fully equipped for training with NATO armies, which further enhances the interoperability of the AFBiH with the Alliance forces.
This is the first international exercise outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina in which the AFBiH will participate with the entire BGLP, and as such will be the largest contingent in the entire exercise.
In addition to the Light Infantry Battalion Group, one helicopter from the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade will also participate in the exercise.
Among other things, the exercise scenario includes the deployment of US military forces from the Maryland National Guard, together with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will include live fire exercises.
This year’s “Defender 25” exercise is also being conducted in other countries in the region, with a special part of the exercise being conducted in the Republic of Kosovo, together with US forces.
