Sad news befell Bosnia and Herzegovina today. The young Konjic basketball player Harun Cokoja died at the age of 23.
The club made an announcement today and stated that Harun could have been a top basketball player, but that a wicked illness prevented everything. They said goodbye to Harun with an emotional message.
“As someone who survived all the horrors of war and the loss of loved ones, I thought that I had hardened so much that I could endure everything on my feet, but the news of the departure of our Harun literally cut me down, because even though we knew about the difficult situation, we hoped that his young the organism somehow manages to withstand everything. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be and our Harun went to a better world with his Lord, and we have the memory of every moment together, because the late Harun was such a man, he made everything more beautiful, easier and always there for others with his presence.
He could have been a top basketball player, a student, tomorrow successful in life in every field, but unfortunately a wicked disease prevented that, but what he succeeded in his too short life was his absolute humanity and the way in which he influenced all of us with the fragrance of his soul we were lucky to know him. He loved basketball sincerely without any interest, as only someone who is free from all low human motivation can love.
Often we all accept some standards of success in life that are fleeting and subject to the situation at a given moment, but I think that only training and through that the formation of such personalities, like the late Harun, who even in their most difficult moments show their empathy towards others, is a real success, especially that there are still many of our young basketball players who have that lifestyle. Thank you to his parents for raising our Harun and our Emir, who will be the greatest comfort to all of us because everything that has been said applies to him as well and through him will remain an indelible memory”, stated KK Konjic.
Football club Željezničar, of which he was a big fan, also said goodbye to Harun.
