BiH should become a full member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) very soon, as concluded after the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic and the delegation of WTO led by the Ambassador of the Mission of Bulgaria to the WTO in Geneva and the Chairman of the WTO Working Group for BiH, Atanas Paparizov.

This could be a historic act for BiH, as noted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, and after the main obstacles have been removed and the last steps towards accession to the WTO are currently taking place, the final negotiations with Brazil, Ukraine and Russia will follow during the next month.

“We already sent our final offer to Ukraine and Brazil, and we no longer see any obstacles there. When it comes to Russia, we will refer the prepared Decision on Liquid Fuel Quality into the procedure and inform them on what would be enough this time,” stated Minister Sarovic.

He also expressed his expectation that we will receive a positive opinion of the entities on the Decision in order for it to be considered and adopted at the session of the Council of Ministers of BiH very soon, as announced from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.

The delegation of WTO assessed that BiH achieved a great progress in negotiations and meeting the criteria for future membership in the WTO.

“Dedication of Minister Sarovic to this process led to the situation that we can now talk about the fact that the accession of BiH to the WTO is very close and BiH will have our full support,” stated Ambassador Paparizov.

Meetings of the Working Group in Geneva will take place in February and May, and Paparizov expressed his optimism that the final decision on full membership of BiH in the WTO will be adopted at the end of the month of July.
