On Wednesday, members of the BiH Border Police Unit Velika Kladuša prevented the smuggling of 23 citizens of the Republic of Turkey in the border zone in the area of Velika Kladuša.

Smuggling was discovered during the surveillance of the state border and the control of Mercedes passenger motor vehicles, with the national markings of the Republic of Croatia, in which there were 22 people, while there was one person in the second vehicle, with the national markings of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Three citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are connected with this smuggling.

Due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the crime committed was human smuggling, the on-duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH was informed about the said event, according to whose order the suspects were arrested, and the vehicles and other evidence materials were temporarily confiscated. A small amount of the intoxicating drug marijuana was also discovered in one of the vehicles.

A Report on the committed criminal offense of human smuggling will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the suspects, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

Citizens of the Republic of Turkey, along with the proposal for the imposition of a measure of expulsion from the territory of BiH, will be handed over to the members of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of BiH for further processing.
