The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina fined three political parties and three political subjects for violating the rules of conduct in the election campaign.

At the 48th emergency session of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the political parties PDP, PDA and SNSD were fined, and their candidates Sanja Dimitrić, Elzina Pirić and Vlado Đajić were also fined.

The CEC stated that Sanja Dimitrić, the PDP candidate for the National Assembly of the RS, a member of the Derventa Assembly and an employee at the elementary school in Derventa, misused a public resource in her capacity as an educator, school premises, in order to send political messages, and was fined 3,000 BAM. PDP received a fine in the same amount.

She published a photo with a text, which was taken in the school premises, at her workplace.

“I would have been even happier if I had welcomed my students with free textbooks, which is what we advocated for, but the government refuses,” read the post, which was deleted not long after.

SDS accused SNSD’s candidate for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Vlado Đajić, of using the event of the opening of cardiac surgery at the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska to send pre-election messages. It was established that he had misused public funds and resources of the UKC RS and SRNA.

Đajić was fined 10,000 BAM, and SNSD 5,000 BAM.

SDA also reported Elzina Pirić, PDA president and candidate for the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, for hate speech. She compared the election poster of Bakir Izetbegović, on which he is photographed with raised hands, to a fascist salute from the Second World War.

Pirić said that “someone greets us like they used to greet Europe in ’39”, which is a direct allusion.

Because of this, she was fined 5,000 BAM, and the PDA was fined 3,000 BAM.

Following Transparency International’s report, SNSD was also fined for conducting a paid political campaign before it began. Given that this is the first such violation of SNSD in this pre-election campaign, they received a minimum fine of 3,000 BAM.
