The NiP party said that it would call on the citizens to protest if the government continues to ignore the increase in fuel prices. They called on the opposition to unite on existential issues.
As stated, the continued rise in the price of oil and petroleum products in Bosnia and Herzegovina requires an urgent reaction from the state authorities in order to at least partially stop the chain of price increases and the blow to the pockets of citizens.
They reminded that in March this year, the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Excise Duties was submitted to the parliamentary procedure, which provided for the abolition of excise duties on fuel, which would lead to, as he pointed out, a significant reduction in fuel prices at gas stations.
“Unfortunately, although the law was adopted in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an urgent procedure, it was actually overthrown in the House of Peoples through procedural delays. Today, when the price of fuel at gas stations in Bosnia and Herzegovina reached almost four BAM per liter, the ruling coalition “SDA-HDZ-SNSD-DF completely ignores the chain reaction caused by this high price of fuel,” it was pointed out.
As it was emphasized, by persistent inaction, the government actually earns money from the citizens through the collection of excise duties and the increased amount of VAT.
The NiP party believes that the Council of Ministers has in no way responded to the challenge of the wave of rising prices and inflation that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been facing for months.
“It should be clearly stated that the staff and representatives of SNSD and HDZ blocked the reduction of fuel prices, and the president of SNSD Milorad Dodik mocked the citizens, claiming that the number of cars on the streets shows that fuel is not expensive for citizens,” it was noted.
They called on the opposition in the RS entity to jointly send a message to the ruling coalition at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the vital interests of citizens must be a priority.
The NiP said that the answer to such ignoring of price increases could and should be protests in all parts of the country, because all citizens are equally affected. Opinions are that the opposition must come out with a united position and, as they pointed out, clearly address who those who do not want to help the citizens are.
As it was emphasized, if the authorities finally do not take certain measures in the next 15 days, they will be forced to call on the citizens to protest against such disregard for the citizens.
The NiP is of the opinion that the Council of Ministers must come up with a set of measures to respond to the current crisis and the wave of price increases, and that the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina must urgently adopt proposed laws that would at least partially reduce fuel prices, Klix.ba writes.
