What is the Average Monthly Net Salary in BiH?

The average monthly net salary in BiH in May this year amounted to 981 BAM and was nominally lower by 0.7 percent compared to December last year, and higher by 4.4 percent compared to May last year.

The lowest average net salary in May was in accommodation services, food preparation and serving and amounted to 584 BAM, in construction it was 680 KM, while the average net salary in administrative and ancillary services was 675 BAM, according to the BiH Statistics Agency.

In financial and insurance activities, the average net salary in the month of May amounted to 1,564 BAM, in the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning 1,480 BAM, and in the field of information and communication technologies 1,439 BAM.

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for June 2021 amounts to 2,042.34 BAM and is 21.72 BAM cheaper than the consumer basket for the previous month.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH in April 2021 was 990 BAM (the latest data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics) and 6.00 BAM is lower than the amount in the previous month. The coverage of the Trade Union Consumer Basket with the average salary is 48.47 percent.

When making the Trade Union Consumer Basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living costs of a family of four consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in primary school.

 The consumer basket consists of the following categories: food 44.6 percent, housing and communal services 15.2 percent, hygiene and health maintenance 6.4 percent, education and culture 6.4 percent, clothing and footwear 14.7 percent, transportation 6.8 percent, and household maintenance 5.9 percent.

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 86 items. When it comes to hygiene and maintaining health, the costs for twelve items are stated, and for housing and communal services the costs for six items.
