The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the proposal of the Office of the Chairperson, unanimously adopted the Decision on displaying the flag of the European Union (EU) in ministries, administrative organizations and other bodies of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina – in a new text.
By displaying the EU flag next to the BiH flag, the Council of Ministers of BiH, after Bosnia and Herzegovina received candidate status, expresses commitment and commitment to the goals and European values on which the EU rests, such as respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule rights and respect for human rights, including the rights of members of minorities, in a society where pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality of women and men prevail.
According to the Decision, in addition to the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the flag of the European Union is displayed on the building where the seat of the ministry, administrative organization and other body established by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located. The priority in highlighting is the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
When displayed side by side, the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to the left, seen from the front, in relation to the flag of the European Union.
This decision enters into force on the eighth day from the day of its publication in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU customs program
The BiH Council of Ministers adopted the Proposal for an Agreement between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the customs program of the Union (Customs), proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations.
In this way, Bosnia and Herzegovina practically continues to participate in this program, after Customs 2020 was successfully implemented in the period from 2014 to 2020.
The new agreement enables Bosnia and Herzegovina to use the resources and knowledge of the EU in the area of customs for easier integration into the European Union, along with the improvement of administrative procedures in the area of customs, better exchange of information and technical support in strengthening BiH’s capacities in this area.
The general objective of the Customs program is to support the customs union and customs authorities in their joint work and action as a single body in order to protect the financial and economic interests of the Union and its member states, ensure security and protection within the Union in the fight against unfair and illegal trade, while at the same time facilitating legal business activity.
The proposal of the agreement will be submitted to the BiH Presidency for further procedure, and for BiH. the minister of foreign trade and economic relations was proposed as a signatory.
