Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez, with his deputies Slaven Galić and Aleksandar Goganović, today received the Commander of the European Union Forces (EUFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austrian Major General Helmut Habermayer.
The interlocutors emphasized the excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH with EUFOR.
Minister Helez emphasized the importance of the help that the European Union provides with its donations and EUFOR with its activities to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH, but also ensuring the security of the environment in BiH.
BiH Defense Minister told General Habermayer that the BiH Council of Ministers should soon vote on the budget for this year and expressed expectations that financial allocations for the BiH Armed Forces will be increased after a long time. He also noted that, after a one-year break, three members of the Armed Forces of BiH have been recently sent to the EU Training Mission in the Central African Republic.
“Cooperation with EU institutions certainly has benefits for the BiH defense department. EUFOR’s willingness to protect security in our country is also important. On behalf of the defense institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I would like to emphasize that we remain committed to fulfilling the goals on our Euro-Atlantic path,” said Helez.
Major General Habermayer thanked Minister Helez for the information and emphasized that EUFOR will continue to provide support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the training process, as well as strengthening EUFOR’s ability to protect the safe environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
