BiH Defense Minister receives Maryland National Guard Delegation

Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez met with Major General Janeen Birckhead from the Maryland National Guard and announced a meeting with his American counterpart.

At the meeting held today, Minister of Defense Zukan Helez confirmed that he will meet with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in a bilateral visit in April.

“It was noted that bilateral defense consultations between our two sides will continue in April 2025 in Washington during the planned meeting of the Minister of Defense of BiH and the Secretary of Defense of the US, which is an excellent opportunity to further improve the long-standing good cooperation, especially military cooperation,” the statement from the Ministry of Defense of BiH states.

The interlocutors discussed bilateral cooperation, activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH, the security and economic situation, developments in our country and the world, as well as numerous other topics.

Minister Helez welcomed the delegation of the Maryland National Guard, saying that it was his pleasure to host sincere friends of our country.
