Chairman of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Jasmin Imamović, members of the Joint Commission Kemal Ademović, Safet Softić, Šerif Špago, Milan Dunović and Slavko Matić and the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH Boško Šiljegović spoke on Thursday with the member of the German Bundestag Martina Renner about numerous issues, current on the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on the activities of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Members of the Joint Commission informed Renner about the current state of security and security challenges in BiH, as well as the efforts that police agencies are making in the fight against illegal trade and smuggling of firearms. In this regard, they assessed that, after the establishment of a joint contact point within the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cooperation with EUROPOL has improved.

During the meeting, the challenges of the fight against organized crime and corruption and the migrant crisis were also discussed. Members of the Joint Commission questioned the lack of police officers in the security sector, especially in the BiH Border Police, as well as the lack of adequate equipment.

They thanked the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for their support in equipping police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for the equipment donated to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The guest from the Bundestag was also informed about the state of legislation, as well as the need to update legal solutions and regulations in police agencies.

It was agreed to continue the talks and cooperation between the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of BiH and the Internal Policy Committee of the Bundestag with the aim of improving bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries and better understanding in the process of building a stable security environment in BiH and the region, Fena reports.
