Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers of BiH Mirko Sarovic stated that the export of flour to Turkey was secured as the main export market for this product from BiH.

“This export was increased by 50 % last year in comparison to 2016 and it reached a total amount of 103,000 tons of flour and 40,000 tons of mainly wheat. These arrangements secured more than 70 million BAM for BiH,” noted Minister Sarovic.

“Turkey had intentions to reduce the arrangement to 30,000 tons this year, and they informed us through the diplomatic note about that, but we were able to negotiate the export of a minimum of 85,000 tons of flour to Turkey a few days ago in Ankara,” said Minister Sarovic.

After the meeting in Bijeljina, Sasa Urosevic from mill “Zitoprodukt” from Banja Luka said that they were the largest exporter of flour from BiH last year, and their export amounted to 20,000 tons, of which 98 % went to Turkey and the rest in neighbouring Montenegro.

“To us, large exporters, it is important to continue with this export and that the ministry has done everything to increase quotas,” said Urosevic.

The main aim of the meeting in Bijeljina was the perspective of the milling industry, with a special focus on the increasing export of these goods to the market of Turkey but also the increase of cooperation with domestic agricultural producers.

The meeting was attended by largest and the most important exporters of wheat and flour in BiH.
