Last year, Bosnia and Herzegovina exported meat and meat products worth 132.4 million BAM, which is four percent more than the previous year, while imports amounted to 662.9 million BAM, which is 20.28 percent more in compared to 2022.

If we look at the total amount of meat and meat products exported last year, it is 0.93 percent higher than the previous year, it was stated in the analysis of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Quantitative growth was recorded in the export of fresh or chilled beef of around 400 tons to Turkey, sausages and similar products by 29.6 percent, and poultry meat by 9.5 percent.

The Chamber states that last year, compared to 2022, there was a 93 percent decrease in pork exports.

Fresh and chilled meat was mostly exported to Montenegro, worth about 21.9 million BAM, Turkey 11.35 million BAM, Croatia about seven million BAM, Serbia about six million BAM, and Slovenia about 4.4 million BAM.

“Compared to 2022, the change is an increase in exports to the Slovenian market, a decrease in exports to North Macedonia, and an increase in exports to Turkey by more than 50 percent,” the analysis stated.

Meat products were mostly exported to North Macedonia in the value of about 21.8 million BAM, then to Serbia about 18.2 million BAM, Montenegro 11.09 million BAM, and Croatia about 2.44 million BAM.

The most fresh and chilled meat was imported from Italy in the value of about 120.7 million BAM, then from the Netherlands about 103 million BAM, Poland about 70.5 million BAM, Germany about 59.1 million BAM, and Austria about 43.1 million BAM.

The Chamber adds that last year imports from the mentioned countries grew in value, but not in quantity.
