BiH Farmers, dissatisfied with the Price of Wheat, threaten to destroy the Crop

Farmers’ protests were held in Semberija yesterday morning. Dissatisfied with the purchase price of wheat, they announced blockades and the destruction of the crop if the authorities did not respond to their demands.

Although after several unsuccessful meetings in Banja Luka, the views of the farmers and millers have converged, Semberija farmers are still dissatisfied with the price of wheat.

Farmers pointed out that their goal is for the price of wheat to be from 72 to 75 pfennig.

”If it is good for the people that bread is 2 BAM and meat 20 BAM, then it will be good for us, no matter how much they pay us. But I don’t think it’s right,” points out Savo Bakajlic from the Association of Farmers of Semberija and Majevica.

He said that he would invite Milorad Dodik, a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency from Serbian people, to talk to the farmers.

”Today, this is another call or warning, to try to solve the problems together and save what is left of agriculture,” Bakajlic stated yesterday morning.
