BiH FM: Dismissal of Foreign Judges from Constitutional Court is unacceptable

The Draft Law on Courts was withdrawn from the proposed agenda of today’s session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the position of representatives from the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirmed to journalists after the session.

Requests from Republika Srpska about the departure of foreign judges from the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are unacceptable, he said, also stating that some other proposed decisions have been withdrawn, but also that those who block processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina will have to explain their actions to the public.

“It’s a shame that we’re wasting time, that once again the law from 14 priorities was not on the agenda, which would be very, very important in the Report on BiH. And then let’s talk about the things we don’t agree on in this law, which are the seat and jurisdiction of the court itself. We did not get to the point, but due to political reasons, today we again removed that law from the agenda. The decision on using the reserve to accept the purchase of helicopters did not pass either, but that issue seems to me solvable,” Konaković said.

Regarding his communication with the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik, Konaković says that it is not the same as it was before the insult, and that his earlier visit to Dodik, for which he suffered public criticism, was aimed at normalizing the process. Konaković claims that he is a man of communication, but also that he reacts when someone exaggerates towards him or towards the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Today’s session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was nevertheless correct “considering how much we are quarreling these days”, Konaković appreciates, explaining that about fifteen to twenty materials were approved, among them the material on displaying the EU flag, decisions related to harmonization with European regulations and the like.

“I don’t know what conditions and ultimatums will bring us all, we thought that there would be no such thing. I can repeat once again – we have billions of euros and convertible marks in front of us to help Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European path. We are expected to earn that money and to then they are used by the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. But I am afraid that such ultimatums will distance us from a better life for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I appeal that neither Dodik nor other politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina do these things,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He announces that the public will soon receive information about the six billion euros of the European Union for the Western Balkans.

“I will repeat once again, soon you will receive information about the new six billion euros for the Western Balkans in the next three years, of which four billion are project and two billion are grants. Of course, we are talking about the old framework of 14.5 billion for seven years and the IPA funds in the amount of 30 billion; we are talking about 50 billion euros that should be implemented in the area of the Western Balkans. Part of that will come to Bosnia and Herzegovina, to every part of it, so I think there is nothing more priority for us politicians at this moment. Any action that takes us away from this and that when Europe, after being unfair to us, finally opened up, realized that we should be part of that space, and now we would be closing ourselves off and rejecting such chances. it was a historical mistake,” said Elmedin Konaković after today’s session of the BiH Council of Ministers, Fena reports.
