BiH FM: Encouraging Support from global Powers for BiH while Dodik secretly crosses Borders like a Migrant

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konakovic, said that it is encouraging how global powers perceive that BiH currently has a great opportunity and that friends will help us seize it, while on the other hand, the fugitive from domestic law, Milorad Dodik, secretly travels and illegally crosses borders like a migrant.

Konakovic added that everyone around the world is aware of what is happening in BiH, as evidenced by the joint statement adopted at Slovenia’s initiative by members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, including Russia, which fully supports BiH’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and Constitution, as well as the EUFOR mission.

“This shows that the entire world understands the processes in BiH and sees that we have only one problem, which is neither ethnic nor national in nature but purely corrupt and personal, and its name is Milorad Dodik,” Konakovic emphasized.

He stated that he is very satisfied that such a strong message is coming from an important organization like the UN Security Council and reminded that yesterday, we also had the opportunity to see that European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos declared that Dodik, who is a secessionist and attacks BiH’s constitutional order, is no longer a relevant interlocutor for anyone.

Konakovic believes that the most important thing is that many Serbs in BiH also understand that Dodik is causing problems primarily for them and then for everyone else.

He stated that he accepts the call for dialogue because it is necessary for BiH and the entire region, but that a clear message is being sent about who the people are that can discuss BiH’s future – those who mean well for this country and who genuinely fight for all peoples and citizens.

“This is the first polarization in a way that benefits BiH, dividing us into a pro-European side that looks to the future and cares about the prosperity of the country and its people, and another side that wants to return to the past and use those narratives for personal interests, protecting their own corruption and advancing the interests of other great powers in BiH,” Konakovic stressed.

He said that Dodik is a clear example of this but that there are also others on the BiH political scene who would likely be happier if BiH did not move forward because that would mean order, work, and accountability in the country – things that do not suit them.

Konakovic emphasized that Dodik was hoping for some kind of support from Donald Trump’s new administration, which would supposedly give him the right to secession, calling it political madness and a completely unfounded concept.

He announced a new diplomatic offensive at the beginning of April, during which BiH will host the OSCE Secretary-General, Germany’s Minister for Europe, Austria’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and numerous European Union (EU) leaders.

“This shows that this is the long-awaited resolution in BiH that will unfold on the political scene, rather than ending in some dark scenario,” Konakovic underscored in his statement, Klix.ba writes.
