The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, continues his working visit to the United States of America and is staying in St. Louis, where yesterday he met with representatives of the Bosnian diaspora and visited the Bosnian Islamic Center in St. Louis.

On that occasion, Konaković emphasized the practice of meeting with our people during all bilateral or multilateral visits to countries around the world, and he particularly emphasized the significant visit to St. Louis, as one of the largest communities of our people outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The minister had the opportunity to address and answer the questions of representatives of associations from different spheres of life. In his address, he said, among other things, that BiH institutions do not sufficiently deal with our people in the diaspora, and that there is a lot of room for improvement. In particular, there was talk about the economy as an important aspect of the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The most beautiful development of the economy will happen when the Bosnians and Herzegovinians who have matured and realized themselves in the countries of Western Europe, the USA, Australia, etc. invest their capital in their country and if they can earn money there. We are now in a positive process of EU integration, which opens the possibility for faster economic development to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our market needs to be integrated into the European market, which opens up a lot of space for us, and the very process of opening negotiations with the EU is therefore very important,” said Konaković, who also introduced the new economic diplomacy portal within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, which offers easy access to all the necessary information in this field.

There was also talk about the problem of voter registration, for which those present stated that it needs to be simplified, and that efforts must be made to facilitate the mentioned procedures, and they also pointed to the complicated procedures for issuing documents to our citizens.

During the day, Minister Konaković will attend the commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica next to Sebilj in Saint Louis and the traditional walk in memory of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, after which he will participate in a panel discussion at the Association of Survivors of the Srebrenica Genocide.

A meeting with Congresswoman Cori Bush and other American officials from Missouri is also planned, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
