The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, received the newly appointed ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in BiH, Gabriel Derighetti, with whom, among other things, he discussed the additional increase in trade.

Konaković expressed his satisfaction with the fact that BiH and Switzerland have no open issues and that relations between the two countries are traditionally very good and friendly.

He thanked that the strengthening of cooperation with the countries of the Western Balkans, and thus BiH, was defined as one of the strategic goals in Switzerland’s foreign policy strategy.

Although it is not a member of the European Union, Switzerland strongly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to EU integration by providing development assistance in various areas, from public administration, healthcare and increasing employment to the economy.

“Economic relations are stable, but there is room for an additional increase in trade, which is the primary interest of our country,” pointed out Konaković.

Ambassador Derighetti expressed his satisfaction that he has the opportunity to represent his country in BiH, and expressed his determination to work on further increasing and improving the overall relations between the two countries.

The current political situation in BiH and the upcoming local elections in BiH were discussed, the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
