The Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, condemned the physical assault on a student of the Banja Luka Madrasa, emphasizing that any form of violence—regardless of the motive or cause—is absolutely unacceptable.

Stevandić stated that violence does not represent the position of the authorities or anyone else in Republika Srpska, and added that he supports all efforts to uncover the underlying causes and to punish the perpetrators of the attack.

“In coordination with the Islamic Community and the competent authorities of Republika Srpska, we support all actions aimed at identifying the causes and punishing those who attacked the student. We believe that relations between Serbs and Bosniaks in Banja Luka are at the highest possible level and must not be jeopardized in any way; therefore, it is essential that this incident be clarified as soon as possible,” said Stevandić.

Stevandić emphasized that the quality of coexistence is reflected in the mutual respect shared by Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats, and all others in Banja Luka, according to a statement from the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

“We will always respond immediately, without hesitation or ulterior motives,” Stevandić concluded.

Stevandić further noted that everyone bears responsibility for mutual relations, the general atmosphere, and the protection of every individual—regardless of their ethnic or religious background, or social status.

The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, condemned the attack on the Madrasa student in Banja Luka in the strongest possible terms, and expects those responsible to be brought to justice and appropriately sanctioned. “I condemn in the strongest terms the attack on a student of the ‘Reis Ibrahim ef. Maglajlić’ Madrasa in Banja Luka. I expect the competent institutions to clarify all the circumstances of this attack as soon as possible, and to bring those responsible to justice and impose appropriate sanctions,” Cvijanović wrote on X.

The Banja Luka Police Administration previously announced that measures and actions prescribed by law are being taken to establish all the circumstances surrounding the reported disappearance and subsequent discovery of a minor in Banja Luka on November 2.
