The current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region of the Western Balkans was discussed, with special reference to the challenges that affect the functioning of institutions, the implementation of reforms and the preservation of political stability.

Minister Konaković expressed his gratitude to the United States of America for its continuous and strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the protection of its sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order. He pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina considers the United States of America to be one of its most important strategic partners in strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law and the country’s long-term stability.

Special attention is paid to the role of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the importance of the Office of the High Representative in preserving the Dayton Peace Agreement, protecting the constitutional order and ensuring the institutional functionality of the state. Minister Konaković emphasized that OHR remains an irreplaceable mechanism of international support for the implementation of the Dayton Agreement and an important factor in preserving peace, stability and legal security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the importance of preserving its full mandate and capacity. In this context, Minister Konaković emphasized that it is of particular importance that the future high representative be a person with a clear understanding of the political and security challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and that he continues to act decisively in the protection of the Dayton Peace Agreement, peace and stability.

They also discussed improving the energy security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special reference to the Southern Gas Interconnection project. Minister Konaković emphasized that this project represents the strategic interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina because it enables the diversification of supply sources, strengthens the country’s energy independence and contributes to its overall economic and security resilience. He pointed out that energy diversification is not only a development but also a geopolitical and security issue of long-term importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

The interlocutors confirmed the firm support of the United States of America for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the fundamental principles of preserving peace, stability and democratic development of the country, and expressed a common commitment to further strengthening the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America, as well as improving cooperation in the fields of energy, economic development and reform processes.
