Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turkovic extended congratulations to the newly appointed High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt.

“We welcome the decision of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council. We believe that it will strongly contribute to the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, but also to the progress in fulfilling the obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path. During our meeting on March 9 this year in Berlin, we discussed the challenges facing the authorities and citizens of our country,” it is said in the congratulatory message.

Turković added that the appointment of Schmidt confirms the commitment of the international community, and especially Germany, to BiH’s lasting progress and towards joining the European family.

“I am convinced that your diplomatic experience, commitment, good intentions, and the international support you enjoy, can bring much-needed energy and assistance to the efforts of political forces in BiH that are uncompromisingly, unequivocally and continuously fighting and working to meet all conditions for lasting stabilization and full implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, economic progress and progress towards EU membership,” it is said in the message from the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
