Athletes from BiH are really doing great at the beginning of this year, especially those young people whose careers are just at the beginning. However, Fahro Catovic made sure that we do not forget somewhat older athletes.
This persistent BH Paralympic athlete is in Austria these days, where he will represent our country on IPCAS race in Abtenau in the upcoming days. This act will enter into history because, as he claims, he will become the first participant from BiH to compete in a very demanding discipline super-G.
Otherwise, Catovic will perform in two more disciplines, and he will also try the giant slalom and slalom.
“Each discipline comes with special new challenges. Super-G takes place on 205 cm long skis and reaches a speed of over 100 km/hour. So far, more than 100 competitors from 16 countries applied. Our team is the only team from our region. Scoring of the competition is interesting as well. In fact, every Paralympic athlete should have as few points in the rankings, and each of us starts with 1000 points. I currently have 860, after only one race,” says Fahro Catovic.
In order for BH Paralympic athlete to perform at Europa Cup and World Cup, they should have 360 or 240 points.
“This is the next goal, as well as qualifying for the Paralympic Games in South Korea in 2018. Time is short, a lot of effort and work has been invested so far, and a lot more will have to be done. We hope to have the support of the Paralympic Committee of BiH, as before. We want to thank them for their help that enabled participation in this international competition,” said Catovic.
