Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the entire region have enormous potential in renewable energy sources, it was announced yesterday at the opening of the Sarajevo Energy Forum – SEF (Sarajevo Energy Forum).

The forum is organized by the Solar Academy Foundation and partners and under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.

The forum brought together experts, investors, development managers, equipment manufacturers, representatives of construction companies, regulators, actors from the academic community, energy companies, transmission companies, public companies, and representatives of authorities and institutions from BiH, the region and the European Union (EU), as well as civil society and media.

This is a great opportunity for the capital of BiH, after the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Sarajevo Business Forum, to geta prestigious international forum focusing on one of the most important issues of our present and future – energy.

The theme of the forum corresponds to the accelerated turn of the EU towards energy transition and renewable energy sources, which is also the obligation of the countries in the region that are candidates for EU membership, and which is additionally determined by the war in Ukraine.

An integral part of SEF 2023 will also be the Exhibitors’ Fair, where participants will be able to get acquainted with the latest achievements in the field of providing services for the development of renewable energy projects, installation and maintenance of equipment and modern solutions for power plants for households and the economy, as well as for automobiles, and solutions for electric vehicle filling stations and project financing possibilities.

Senad Sepic, on behalf of the Solar Academy Foundation, said that yesterday was the opening of an important regional event.

“This is an event that has a regional character, it takes place from today to Friday. Here we will treat the most important topics in the field of energy, but in general also the most important topics that society, the whole world deals with today. BiH and the entire region have enormous potential in renewable energy sources. What we need to improve are the legal regulations, bringing the economy closer to everything that is the legislative framework, the regional context,” Sepic emphasized yesterday.
