BiH Independence Day is celebrated in Canada

More than ten mayors of the largest Canadian cities, including the capital Ottawa, the largest Canadian city Toronto and the Olympic city Calgary, which is a sister city with Sarajevo, paid tribute to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of Independence Day.

In their written congratulations, the Canadian mayors, joining the Bosnian diaspora in Canada in celebrating Independence Day, emphasized the great importance of this date, which symbolizes the sovereignty, independence, integrity and unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They emphasized that Independence Day is a moment to reflect on the struggles and sacrifices to achieve independence and the progress that has been made since then. The resilience and spirit of the Bosnian people serves as an inspiration to all of us, say Canadian political officials.

Mayors of Canadian cities and political officials also wrote that they are proud to have such an active and diverse Bosnian community that enriches the Canadian cultural mosaic. The contributions of the Bosnian diaspora in Canada in various spheres, be it work, art, academia or social work, are invaluable, encouraging understanding and cooperation among all residents, Canadian officials conclude.

By the decision of the mayors of Toronto, Calgary and Hamilton, on the occasion of BiH Independence Day, and in honor of the state of BiH, the national flags of BiH were ceremoniously raised on the central masts in front of the assemblies of the cities of Toronto, Calgary and Hamilton. Memorable moments when many families with their children take pictures with the flag of their one and only homeland BiH.

Electronic symbols with the names of Canadian cities are also in the colors of the BiH flag as a tribute to the state of BiH, and on the occasion of Independence Day.

“We in Canada are witnesses that BiH is getting stronger in Canada. Its enemies in Canada, and there are many of them, did not expect that the Bosnian diaspora would so proudly and defiantly defend the independence and statehood of BiH. They were convinced that BiH would disappear. But BiH all there are more in Canada. Canada stands by Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said the director of the Canadian Genocide Research Institute, Emir Ramić.

He states that we are telling the well-intentioned people from Canada that together we should protect and strengthen the independence and statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he is telling the malicious ones, who have not given up on the illusory large-state projects, which are particularly strong in Canada, that they will have an impenetrable wall in Canada.
