BiH is among co-proposers of UN Resolution condemning Russia’s Aggression against Ukraine

Bosnia and Herzegovina was among many co-proposers of a United Nations resolution condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This information was published by the correspondent of Al Jazeera Balkans from the United States, Ivica Puljic. He noted that the proponents of the resolution were the United States and Albania, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia were among the numerous co-nominators.

Puljic pointed out that he knows that there must be a consensus on such issues in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN Sven Alkalaj saved the image of the state by deciding that Bosnia and Herzegovina should be a co-proponent.

As he said, he did not allow himself to be on the wrong side of history. The resolution in the UN Security Council was supported by 11 states, while Russia vetoed it. China, India and the United Arab Emirates abstained.

Today is the third day of the Russian attack on Ukraine, and the fighting is also taking place in Kiev. The West helps the Ukrainians financially and militarily, but does not intend to engage its troops in this country. Strict sanctions are also being imposed on Russia. The possibility of excluding Russia from SWIFT is being considered.

The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, rejected the offer of the United States of America to help in the evacuation from Ukraine, and said that he did not need transportation, but weapons. He assures that he will stay in the country. According to him, he was marked as enemy number one, and his family was marked as enemy number two.

Zelensky called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate. Among other things, he asked Israel to mediate in the negotiations. Putin replied that Russia was also ready for negotiations and that they should be in Minsk. However, Putin called on Ukrainian soldiers to carry out a coup, telling them that an agreement with them would be more likely than with the Ukrainian authorities.

According to the United Nations, more than 120,000 refugees have left Ukraine, and there could be another four million. So far, 198 Ukrainians have been killed, including three children.
