Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Defense Zukan Helez, together with Deputy Minister of Defense Aleksandar Goganović, visited Leonardo, one of the world’s leading helicopter manufacturers, as part of an official visit to the United States.

During the visit, Helez had the opportunity to conduct a test flight in a helicopter of the same type that will be purchased for the Armed Forces of BiH, and was firsthand acquainted with its performance and technical capabilities.

Helez said that this is a project that represents a major step forward for the Armed Forces of BiH, emphasizing that six new helicopters will soon be put into service.

“The test flight was an extremely impressive experience. These helicopters demonstrate superior stability, power and safety. This is not just a purchase, this is a historic step forward and the largest investment in the Armed Forces of BiH to date,” said Helez.

He added that the helicopters come with complete equipment, including advanced rescue systems, which will significantly improve both military capacities and the ability to act in civil crises and emergencies.

According to him, the contract also includes pilot training in the United States, as well as the delivery of flight simulators, spare parts and maintenance systems, which should ensure long-term operational readiness.

Deputy Minister of Defense Aleksandar Goganović emphasized that the new helicopters will also be available to civilian structures in the event of natural disasters, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the United States and the benefits that the project brings to all citizens of BiH.
