Representatives of the Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which brings together key players in the transport and logistics sector, sent an open letter to Zoran Tegeltija, Director of the Indirect Taxation Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ITA BiH), in which they warn of serious problems in the implementation of previously agreed measures and announce the start of protests from September 1 this year.
The consortium expressed disappointment over, as they state, the lack of concrete results after months of talks with representatives of the Administration.
“The average time spent at border crossings has now increased to 14.5 hours, double charging for terminal services continues, and the rules are changing depending on the officers on duty,” the letter states.
The Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina demands the urgent implementation of key measures, including: the introduction of unified customs procedures, the elimination of unjustified costs, the digitalization of all records, the standardization of controls and transparent reporting on the performance of customs services.
They warn that if there is no concrete progress by August 15, they will hold the ITA BiH directly responsible for the escalation of the crisis and the consequences that will follow.
They remind that the sector brings together more than 3,300 carriers with international licenses, manages 16,000 vehicles and generates significant foreign exchange income, but suffers losses every day due to lack of promptness and inconsistent procedures. The transport industry no longer has time for experiments. If there is a real will to avoid an institutional and social crisis, act immediately,” the letter concludes.
