On the occasion of December 1 – the Day of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a reception was held today at the Sarajevo Home of the Armed Forces of BiH for members of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH.

In the presence of the heads of all organizational units of the BiH MoD and generals of the BiH AF, the Minister of Defense of BiH Zukan Helez and the Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH AF, Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević, presented awards to members of the BiH AF and officers of the BiH MoD for successful results in the past year.

In his address, Minister Helez stated that the BiH AF has gone a long and difficult path to become today a pillar of the sovereignty of our state, but also a pillar of stability and security for all peoples and citizens in BiH, and a reliable partner of the NATO alliance.

“It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ceremonial reception and awarding of incentive awards to members of the BiH AF on the occasion of December 1,” the Day of the BiH Armed Forces. The defense reform of our country is the most successful post-war reform and can serve as an example of reform and functioning for all other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Numerous commendations and awards that members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina receive around the world, participating in international missions and peace support operations, speak of the professionalism of our Armed Forces and the high level of responsibility. The monetary awards and commendations that I have awarded several times here in the House of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to deserving individuals of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are more a symbolic act of gratitude for presenting the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their entire country in the best possible way, which we can all be proud of. Human resources are the best potential of the BiH Armed Forces.

I am convinced that we are on the right track and that every year the Armed Forces of BiH will strengthen and progress even more,” said Helez.

The Minister added that he will continue to advocate for the further strengthening of the status and position of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in society, but also for the improvement of the material status and living and working conditions of all members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Chief of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, General Knežević, emphasized in his address that the Day of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an opportunity to summarize the results of the current year. The general referred to the reception of military personnel as well as the education of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, their engagement during 2024 and assistance to the civilian population.

The general also emphasized that he was proud that members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina were at the disposal of the endangered population in our country during the fires and catastrophic floods, the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
