Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović received the Special Envoy of the Great Britain of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach.

Komšić and Bećirović expressed their satisfaction with the good and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom and with the intense political dialogue and cooperation.

The members of the BiH Presidency emphasized the importance of the United Kingdom’s support for the reform and integration processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They expressed gratitude for the strong engagement of the United Kingdom so far, as well as the announced continuation of political, economic, security and other forms of support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Komšić and Bećirović emphasized that the United Kingdom, as a strong advocate of the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina, initiated a more open approach of the European Union towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. This gave a new impetus to the reform process and the acceleration of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration, they stressed.

Special envoy Sir Stuart Peach pointed out that the United Kingdom will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic path, reform processes and the rule of law, and that the UK remains committed to the democratic and security progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the prosperity of the country as a whole. He emphasized that the interest of the UK is to strengthen the security and stability of the region of the Western Balkans and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The officials also discussed the improvement of economic cooperation with special emphasis on the importance of attracting investments from the United Kingdom.

Special envoy Sir Stuart Peach confirmed that the UK plans to increase investment in the infrastructure of the Western Balkans through British investment partnerships. As he pointed out, this will, among other things, increase energy independence, and employment, expand production capacities, and through the transfer of technology, the competitiveness of the economy would also increase.
