Members of the Border Police Unit Zvornik, yesterday on the part of the state border between Šepak and Branjevo, spotted a group of migrants who, due to the sudden rise in the water level of the Drina River, were trapped in that area.

According to the received information, members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, using specialist equipment, including a drone, located a group of migrants who were surrounded by water.

With the help of Civil Protection officers of the city of Zvornik and with the use of their vessel and official vehicles of the Zvornik Border Police Unit, 33 male persons, citizens of Afghanistan, were successfully rescued.

Twenty-seven people were referred to the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, while six people were transported to the Zvornik Health Center for medical assistance, the Border Police of BiH announced.
