One victim of the past war was identified today in Banja Luka, and it is a victim of Bosniak nationality who disappeared in the area of that city in 1995.

The victim was first identified through the DNA method, and today the victim’s family confirmed the obtained identity.

Damir (Hasana) Grabovac, who was born in 1950 in Belgrade, and disappeared in the Banja Luka area in 1995, has been identified.

His remains were re-exhumed at the Rapovina cemetery site at the beginning of this month, based on DNA findings on identity that had previously arrived at the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The remains of that victim were initially exhumed on June 23, 2020, and after obtaining operational information that the unmarked grave site most likely contains the remains of a missing person from the Banja Luka area.

On that occasion, bone samples were taken for DNA analysis, and the remains were returned to the same grave site until the arrival of DNA findings, which confirmed that it was the victim who disappeared from Banja Luka in 1995, the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
