BiH Minister of Defense: Members of the VRS told me they were at the Jewish Cemetery when Vucic fired on Sarajevo

The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zukan Helez, responded to insults directed at him by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Among other remarks, Helez stated that members of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) told him they witnessed Vucic firing on Sarajevo residents from the Jewish Cemetery.

“In the manner of the greatest primitives, Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, insulted me publicly simply because I supported the citizens of Serbia in their fight for a fairer and better country,” Helez began.

He added that he was not surprised by Vucic‘s statements.

“What else can you expect from a man who publicly called for the killing of 100 Muslims for one Serb, from someone who fired a sniper rifle at civilians in Sarajevo from the Jewish Cemetery? His excuse that in the footage taken on the frontlines above besieged Sarajevo he was holding an umbrella and not a rifle is a blatant lie,” Helez emphasized.

He added that, as Minister of Defense, he has access to information and that people voluntarily come forward to share such information with him.

“Recently, I spoke with three members of the VRS who admitted to me that they were at the Jewish Cemetery at the same time as Vucic and that the current President of Serbia was firing on Sarajevo residents with a sniper rifle. I am confident that the time will come when Serbs from BiH and Serbia will reject fascists like Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic, Aleksandar Vucic, and others, just as Germans distanced themselves from their Nazis. Aleksandar Vucic has ruled for far too long on the foundations of nationalist hatred toward others and those who are different. He has made Serbia the most distant country in the region from the European Union (EU) and its democratic and legal standards,” Helez stated.

He also noted that it seems Vucic‘s time is running out and that he is increasingly nervous.

“He threatens young people who demand more accountable governance and a fairer Serbia by saying he will send special forces to ‘smash them.’ I sincerely hope that the citizens of Serbia will find the strength and courage to fight for a better and fairer Serbia for all its residents – a Serbia envisioned by Zeljko Obradovic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Novak Djokovic, Savo Milosevic, Sasa Ilic, Dejan Bodiroga, and millions of other Serbian citizens,” Helez concluded, Klix.ba writes.
