The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met on October 7, 2025, with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Anis Matta.
On that occasion, Minister Konaković assessed that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Indonesia are exceptionally good and friendly, and thanked Indonesia for its continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the importance of exchanging visits at the highest and high levels as an important instrument for strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing that this visit by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia will also further contribute to deepening cooperation between the two countries. He pointed to the potential for improving economic cooperation between BiH and Indonesia, with special emphasis on the sectors of military industry, agriculture, wood processing and furniture production. He pointed to the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a real chance to become a European center for the halal industry, which opens up additional opportunities for economic cooperation with Indonesia. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH is working intensively to improve economic diplomacy. In this context, he accepted an invitation to visit Indonesia early next year, together with a delegation of businessmen and representatives of chambers of commerce from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Anis Matta expressed his country’s readiness to further strengthen relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that the two countries are connected by friendly relations. He emphasized the good cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and culture, and expressed Indonesia’s interest in more intensive political dialogue. He expressed special support for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He then informed Minister Konaković about the new Indonesian strategy for improving international economic relations, including the establishment of a special economic sector within the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that Indonesia wants to increase its foreign investments and that in this context it sees Bosnia and Herzegovina as an important partner.
The meeting also discussed the contractual relations between the two countries, as well as cooperation on the multilateral level.
