BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Received Ambassadors and Charge D’Affairs of Member Countries of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)

OIC I ZLAJADeputy Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija received yesterday in Sarajevo Ambassadors and Charge D’Affairs of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Minister Lagumdžija received the Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia to BiH Eida Mohammeda A. Althakafija, Kuwait Mohammad Fadel Khalaf H Al-Telaijya, Egypt Karim Omar Abdelaziz Sharaf, Malaysia Anuar bin Kasman, Charge D’Affaires of Libyan Embassy to BiH Salem E.S. Kafua, Charge D’Affaires of Qatar Jassim Al-Hamadija and the Charge D’Affaires of Turkey Yasemin Eralp.

They spoke of the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the situation in Syria that was proposed by Qater, and co-sponsored by the US, France, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Turkey.

Among the co-sponsors were 19 members of the European Union.

The Ambassadors of Islamic countries accredited in BiH expressed great interest for the position of BIH regarding the respective resolutions.

Minister Lagumdžija informed the Ambassadors that the BiH Presidency sent a proposal that BiH supports the Resolution, that the Presidency considered the same and that members of the Presidency agreed and decided to support this resolution, with which the BiH Mission to the UN in New York would support.

At the meeting they spoke of the newest developments in Syria, with a special emphasis on the negative impact of the Syrian crisis on the stability of the region.

Minister Lagumdžija expressed regret over the huge number of civilian casualties, and expressed hope that the US-Russian peace initiative would finally end the conflict and would be the beginning of the process of permanent peace, announced the BIH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
