BiH Minister of Transport met with his Serbian Counterpart

The connection of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the region, but also the connection of all of us with Europe must be a priority, said the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH Edin Forto after today’s meeting in Belgrade with the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Goran Vesić.

“The free flow of our people, goods and ideas will stop emigration and restore hope for a better tomorrow,” Forto said, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia will discuss project financing together with partners from the European Union.

The ministers agree that one of the most important projects between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is the construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade railway, which was created as a joint initiative of the ministers of the two countries. As it was pointed out, the railway will enable further strengthening of economic activity between the two countries.

When it comes to the construction of the Sarajevo-Beograd highway, Vesić pointed out that the Sremska Rača-Kuzmin section of the highway will be completed by the end of the year.

The interlocutors explained that they are currently working on the reconstruction of the bridges on the Drina between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Forto emphasized that after the first meeting with Vesić, the development of digitalization of traffic permits was initiated.

“The transport business community in the region will be able to digitize everything necessary to enable a smooth crossing of the border,” said Forto.

He invited Vesić to visit Sarajevo on June 6 and 7, when he will discuss with partners from the entire region and the European Union about other projects, especially those from the railway sector, when an agreement on joint investment in the railway corridor is also expected to be signed, it was announced. is from the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
