BiH Ministry of FA comments on the Health Condition of BiH Diplomats in Pakistan

A convoy of foreign diplomats, including diplomatic personnel from Bosnia and Herzegovina, stepped on a mine in Pakistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced everything, stating that there were no injured BiH citizens.

“We inform the public that the explosion that occurred near the convoy that was securing diplomats from Bosnia and Herzegovina in Pakistan did not threaten their lives. We are relieved to confirm that the diplomats from Bosnia and Herzegovina were unharmed,” they said.

They add that the Palestinian Authority is investigating the incident, and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the situation.

A convoy of vehicles, in which there were foreign diplomats, including members of the diplomatic staff from Bosnia and Herzegovina, stepped on a mine in Pakistan, but they are currently safe.

Radio Free Europe (RSE) journalists from Pakistan report that this happened today, September 22. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has no information yet, the ministry said.

In the explosion of the bomb, a policeman who was in charge of securing foreign diplomats was killed, and three others were wounded, the police announced.
There were 12 diplomats from BiH, Russia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Portugal in the convoy.

A police vehicle escorting diplomats to the tourist resort of Malam Jabba in Swat district, northwest Pakistan, may have stepped on a landmine. District police spokesman Moin Fayyaz told Radio Mashal that based on the initial investigation, it appeared the bomb had been buried by the roadside, but said the investigation was still ongoing.

Swat police officials say that after the incident, foreign ambassadors have safely returned to Mingore town and the trip to Mulam Jabba has been cancelled.
Rescue 1122 officials and local residents say the injured soldiers have been shifted to Sidhu Sharif Hospital.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the police vehicle. However, police spokesperson Moin Fayaz said a search operation was underway for militants in the area.

Pakistan’s counterterrorism forces maintain a strong presence in the Swat Valley, which has long been the epicenter of Islamist militant insurgencies. Militants have stepped up their attacks since late 2022 after breaking a ceasefire with the government.
