BiH Parliamentarians at “Climate Parliament” in Brussels

A delegation of the BiH Parliament is participating in a two-day international parliamentary forum in Brussels on the topic of international cooperation in the field of renewable energy.

The conference, entitled “Climate Parliament”, involves the participation of representatives of many countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, and the BiH Parliament is represented by Šemsudin Mehmedović, Anto Domazet, Mirza Kušljugić, Nermina Kapetanović, Zijad Jagodić and Borislav Bojić.

In a statement for Fena from Brussels by member of the BiH Delegation Šemsudin Mehmedović, the topics at the forefront are creating a reliable supply of clean energy, strengthening international cooperation with countries that have a rich potential for renewable energy sources, and how parliamentarians can have access to the huge investments in this area, as well as in employment. Also, in addition to environmental protection, there would be a focus on the economic effects in a country, creating an environment and legal framework in national parliaments for this type of investment.

Mehmedović says that the advent of a new U.S. gas production, which is several times cheaper than everything known until now, showed an excess of coal in the American market. Thus, the price in the market fell and is sold on the EU market, which causes increased production of electric energy in thermal plants in EU countries. This would certainly spoil the ecology and climate.

Another problem is the plan to stop building nuclear power plants and the need for energy is growing, and this generally represents a problem after the Japanese disaster. This is why there are efforts to invest in renewable energy’’, he said.
