BiH Politicians Have to Put Interest of Citizens and Country in First Place

BiH politicians have to work hard and put the interest of the country and citizens in first place because there are only two weeks left for the implementation of the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling’’, said the Head of the Council of Europe Office in BiH Mary Ann Hennessey today in Sarajevo.

The EU expects that the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling be implemented by 11 April. If it is not implemented, BiH will be left without the status of a candidate country for EU membership.

With regard to the implementation of the ruling, the German Ambassador to BiH Ulrike Maria Knotz said that BiH politicians, regardless of the support of the Ambassadors in BiH, have to work strenuously to resolve this important issue.

Providing support, Knotz sent a message to leaders to be constructive, ready for dialogue and to pragmatically act in the interest of its citizens.

“I hope that in the next 14 days politicians in BiH exert maximum effort to find a solution’’, said Knotz.

Also, the Czech Ambassador to BiH Tomas Szunyog expressed hope for a positive outcome of the implementation of the ruling. He said that with only a reasonable discussion could a joint solution be found, which political leaders of the ruling parties have to apply in this case.

The US Ambassador to BiH Patrick Moon said that the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling is very important to citizens of BiH, and the only thing that could be said to political leaders is ‘’shame on you if you are not able to meet together to find a mutual solution’’.

“People expect for BiH politicians to meet and work on this issue. This is very important and there are no more delays’’, concluded Moon.
