The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina held on Wednesday a meeting with the chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel, and the management of AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC, where the Southern Interconnection project was discussed.

The Southern Interconnection Project is an initiative launched with the support of the United States of America, and in that context, the meeting is a continuation of talks with political representatives about the project, according to the BiH Presidency.

It was pointed out that continuous and constructive cooperation of all levels of government is necessary in order to ensure concrete results and speed up the path to project realization.

It was said that the project is an opportunity for a long-term partnership between BiH and the USA, as investors, but also an opportunity for the existing industry in BiH to improve its capacities and to strengthen the economy.

It was pointed out that the Southern Interconnection is a strategic infrastructure project for Bosnia and Herzegovina that enables energy diversification and contributes to energy stability, as well as connecting to the European energy market.

“Members of the Presidency of BiH are familiar with the project in the context of the construction time, capacity of the gas pipeline, the legal procedure that must be followed to start the implementation of the project, and the benefits of the project for employment and strengthening the economy and economy, as well as improving energy security and attracting foreign investments,” the Presidency announced.

It was confirmed that there is a political consensus for the Southern Interconnection project, which will enable the improvement of cooperation between BiH and the USA and a long-term partnership.

As stated by the Embassy of the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Southern Interconnection project is gaining momentum.

The meeting with the members of the BiH Presidency was attended by the President of AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC Joseph Flynn and Vice President Jesse Binnall, in addition to Chargé d’affaires John Ginkel, and the further progress of this key project was discussed at the meeting.

“The focus of the conversation was the progress of the Federation of BiH towards the finalization of amendments to the Law on Southern Interconnection and the continuation of work on the international agreement with Croatia. The gas pipeline will ensure access to reliable American liquefied natural gas. American investments and expertise are ready to turn this vision into reality, strengthening the energy independence of BiH and creating lasting economic opportunities for both of our countries,” the US Embassy in BiH stated in a post on the X social network.
