The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has approved the purchase of 200,000 Pfizer vaccines against COVID-19.

As Fena news agency learns, the Presidency of BiH gave its consent to the conclusion of an international agreement on the procurement of vaccines between the Republic of Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, related to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines, at yesterday’s telephone session, at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The purchase of 200,000 vaccines will be paid from the IPA funds.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed today that new quantities of AstraZeneca vaccine will be delivered to the country at the end of April or the beginning of May.

The Ministry was confirmed by the UNICEF Office in BiH that 81,600 doses of vaccine should be delivered through two deliveries. The first delivery is expected in the last week of April or early May, while the second delivery is scheduled within five weeks after the said delivery.

The Ministry will be subsequently informed about the number of doses per delivery.

These deliveries are part of the previously allocated quantity of 108,000 doses for the period February-May, 2021, and within which 26,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have already been delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of March.

These are deliveries of vaccines purchased by Bosnia and Herzegovina under the COVAX mechanism.

The Ministry will continue to regularly inform the public about the latest information regarding the delivery of vaccines.

The BiH Medicines Agency has given its consent for the use of vaccines produced by “AstraZeneca”, which Serbia donated to the Sarajevo Canton.

According to the Medicines Agency, the tested sample corresponds to the declared quality requirement in terms of tested parameters and it was determined that the vaccine contains all the data required by applicable regulations and test results within the set quality limits. The deadline for the use of vaccines is June this year.

On April 9, 10,000 AstraZeneca vaccines were delivered to the Sarajevo International Airport by Air Serbia plane, out of a total of 20,000 doses, which Serbia is giving to the Sarajevo Canton.

After the BiH Medicines Agency approved these vaccines for use, vaccination of the elderly and people with chronic diseases should begin in Sarajevo next week. Vaccination will be carried out in the sports hall “Zetra”.
