BiH Presidency Member meets Special Envoy of the Republic of France for the Western Balkans

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović held a meeting with René Troccaz, Special Envoy of the Republic of France for the Western Balkans.

During the meeting, they discussed the current security and political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Bećirović’s upcoming visit to the Republic of France, within the framework of which a meeting with the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron is planned.

Bećirović emphasized that the role of the Republic of France, as one of the key members of the European Union (EU) and NATO, is of exceptional importance for preserving peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region.

He pointed out that it is essential to protect the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because the collapse of the constitutional order would be an introduction to anarchy with unpredictable consequences.

The Member of the Presidency of BiH particularly pointed out the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has completely harmonized its foreign policy with the foreign and security policy of the EU in the last three years.

“This clearly confirms that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a reliable ally of the EU and the West, but also an additional confirmation of the country’s commitment to integration into Euro-Atlantic associations. Bosnia and Herzegovina will not deviate from its EU and NATO path, regardless of all pressures and threats, as well as the irresponsible actions of some domestic political actors who seek to change the unanimously determined foreign policy orientation of our country. The policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to full membership of the EU and NATO has no serious alternative,” the statement said.

Special Envoy of the Republic of France René Troccaz confirmed the strong support of the Republic of France for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He stressed the importance of respecting the legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and continuing the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into the EU.

The interlocutors noted that French engagement within the EU and NATO, including support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European and Euro-Atlantic path, represents an important pillar for the continuation of reforms and the strengthening of democratic institutions in our country.

This is the fifth meeting between Bećirović and Troccaz in the past year, which also confirms the continuous and open political dialogue between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of France.
