Considering that the request of Denis Bećirović, a member of the Presidency of BiH, for the extraordinary session of the Presidency has arrived, I can say that I support that request, but I think that the sum that he has foreseen in the request is too small for seriously mitigating of the damage caused by floods, said today a member of the BiH Presidency, Željko Komšić.

Komšić’s proposal is to allocate five million BAM for damage repair in Krajina, one million BAM for damage repair in Čelić, and two million BAM for damage repair in the Republika Srpska.

The town of Bosanska Krupa recorded the highest water level ever measured, which according to the last measurement is 356 cm, which is 20 cm more than the water level measured in December.

A large number of residential, business and auxiliary buildings, as well as agricultural properties, and road communications are under water. More than 800 residential buildings are surrounded by water and cannot be approached.

“The situation has never been worse. We are doing what we can. Last night we had over a hundred people engaged to help people. It was mostly related toembankment, bags, protection against water intrusion into households, relocating people who were threatened by rising water level, and the like. We have our forces which are substantial and well equipped, however this exceeds the material and human capacities we currently have. The water level of the Una is 20 centimeters higher than ever recorded before and the rain is falling and we expect that water level to rise even more tonight,“ it was mentioned yesterday by the mayor of Bosanska Krupa, Armin Halitovic.

All available Civil Protection units, the Water and Underwater Rescue Service, the “10.Juli” public utility company, the Bosanska Krupa Professional Fire Department, as well as all the voluntary fire brigades in the city are on the ground and react where it is necessary and possible to react.
