“Pope Francis will be remembered for his sincere advocacy for peace, equality and solidarity. I had the great honor of talking with Pope Francis about the values of peace, dialogue, togetherness and cooperation. This conversation remained deeply etched in my memory, as did the words of respect that the Holy Father expressed to Bosnia and Herzegovina on that occasion,” Bećirović said.

He emphasized that the Holy Father was a true friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole world, and he expressed his attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and its peoples during his visit to Sarajevo in June 2015.

With his extraordinary moral authority, Pope Francis represented a strong spiritual support for all people of good will around the world. The world and the Roman Catholic Church have been left without a true fighter for understanding and love among peoples, especially for peace throughout the world.

On behalf of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and on my own behalf, I send you and all Catholics in the world my condolences on the death of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Father Pope Francis.
