BiH Prime Minister seeks Help from European Leaders in Activation of NATO’s Membership Action Plan

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdic, at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, attended a meeting of leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkans late last night.

The topic of the meeting was the issue of regional stability and cooperation with a focus on relations on the Belgrade-Pristina.

At the meeting, Zvizdic said that he was opposed to drawing new borders based on ethnic principles in the Western Balkans and he repeated that territorial integrity, sovereignty and multiethnicity of the societies should be the only basis for resolving bilateral disputes, especially the border issues.

Zvizdic called for the conclusion of the agreements on the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia, as an expression of respect for the European and democratic principles of inviolability of internationally recognized borders.

He strongly condemned the link between resolving Kosovo’s status with the Republika Srpska entity and the anti-constitutional behavior of those who draw some new borders across the territory of independent, internationally recognized countries.

In addition, Zvizdic asked for candidate status for BiH as well as assistance in the activation of the MAP, which would represent essential elements of stability and economic development of BiH society, through creating political stability and a secure business environment attractive to foreign investors.

For the end, he emphasized that BiH is neither a source nor threat to the region or the EU for any form of terrorism.
