BiH records Decrease in the Number of Employed Persons

At the end of September, there were 324,712 people registered with employment agencies and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed decreased by 5,117 or 1.55 percent, and by 22,136 or 6.38 percent less than in September last year, according to data from the BiH Labor and Employment Agency.

Unemployment in September compared to the previous month decreased in the Republika Srpska by 304 people or 0.55 percent, and in the Federation of BiH by 4,888 people or 1.86 percent, while it increased in the Brčko District by 75 people or 0.64 percent.

The largest number of qualified workers registered in September was 101,768 or 31.34 percent of the total number, followed by unqualified people, 95,055 or 29.27 percent, and people with secondary education 92,280 or 28.42 percent.

25,360 people with higher education or 7.81 percent of the total number were also looking for work, 4,935 or 1.52 percent of them had higher education, 4,575 or 1.41 percent had lower education, and 739 or 0.23 percent were highly qualified workers.

In September, 18,370 people were deleted from the employment service records, of which 13,220 were employed.

At the same time, 8,983 people lost their jobs, while employers reported their need to employ 3,531 workers in this period.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH, in August the number of employees in BiH was 847,865, and compared to the previous month, the number of employees decreased by 0.6 percent.
