Bosnia and Herzegovina will never reach its European goal if there is one man, a foreigner, who wants to change laws and illegally influence the work of BiH institutions, said BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić, who stated that “checks have shown that Christian Schmidt is illegitimate and that he actually represents Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not the United Nations”.
“Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina want a country with the rule of law and respect for the Constitution and laws, that is, a modern European country, and that is not possible if Schmidt continues to falsely present himself as the so-called high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Nešić.
Presenting information from security agencies about Schmidt’s stay in BiH, he stated that he only has a diplomatic note from Germany, but not from the UN, as the only competent institution for confirming the appointment of a high representative in BiH.
Nešić pointed out that he received a response from the BiH Border Police that “Schmidt brought three ‘long barrels’ (shotguns) into BiH last year, which he has no right to according to the current laws relating to weapons, and that these weapons were subsequently returned to Germany.”
He said that it was a failure of the domestic security institutions, especially the Border Police of BiH, stating that foreign diplomats, who come with security, do not have the right to bring in weapons that are declared in BiH as “long barrels”, while to bring in personal weapons and a certain amount ammunition there is a right.
According to the Minister of Security, every time he arrives in BiH, Schmidt should notify the Border Police of his stay here, as well as an armed escort, in order to be granted entry.
He pointed out that Schmidt is not currently being protected by the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies, but that he has an armed escort from Germany.
“The Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies provides only the premises of the OHR in Sarajevo and Banja Luka,” he stated.
